Oct 27-28 Grundfos Sustainable Buildings Academy - Advanced Plumbing Pumping Systems: Selection Mastery, Pressure Boosting, Controls & Specifications - F2F Course - Brookshire, TX
This two-day advanced plumbing course is designed for professionals who already understand the basics and want to improve how they select, design, specify, and troubleshoot commercial plumbing pumping systems, especially pressure boosting applications. The course starts with advanced pump theory and practical selection methodology, then transitions into pressure boosting system design, energy and tank strategy, and how to avoid common performance problems in the field.
Day two focuses on what separates “it runs” from “it performs”: how energy/code considerations (including the relevance of ASHRAE 90.1 to boosters), product range positioning, and controller capabilities (including Geniecon control and features) influence real-world outcomes. The course also covers system protection and production/safety features, plus specification training and hands-on exercises that reinforce design decisions, controller settings, and product selection.
Key topics covered across the two days include:
- Basic & advanced pump theory (structured as Part 1 and Part 2)
- Mastering pump selection and using Grundfos Select effectively
- Pressure boosting basics & system design, including tank strategy and energy savings
- ASHRAE 90.1 and its relevance to booster systems
- Grundfos booster range, Hydro MPC basics, and CU352 control & features
- Multi-pump concepts
- System protection and features, plus specification training
- Hands-on exercises and a factory tour (integrated into the two-day flow)
Outcome
Participants leave with a sharper ability to size, select, and specify plumbing/boosting systems with confidence, and to explain design choices using performance, energy, control strategy, and protection-feature logic that holds up in real installations.
Who Should Attend:
This course is ideal for:
- Experienced plumbers / contractor supervisors / foremen who touch commercial boosting systems and want stronger design + troubleshooting depth
- Sales Engineers, Technical Sales, and Application Engineers supporting commercial plumbing projects who need advanced selection/spec skills
- Design engineers (MEP / plumbing) and specifiers who want stronger alignment between performance intent, code/efficiency expectations, and control strategy
- Facility engineers / commissioning / service teams responsible for performance issues, reliability, or optimization of installed booster systems
- Anyone who already knows the “what” of plumbing pumps and wants to master the “why this design, why this control mode, why this product” decision-making
