A world-class stadium with a Mexican soul

Inaugurated in 2019, the Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium is the home of the baseball team Diablos Rojos del México and one of the most modern sports venues in Latin America. Designed by the architecture firm ADG, the stadium integrates functionality, sustainability, and an architectural design inspired by pre-Hispanic elements that evoke the pyramids, becoming a true icon of Mexico City.

From its initial phase, the project was defined with two strategic objectives:

  1. Implement autonomous pressurization systems, capable of operating without supervision and with real-time monitoring functions.
  2. Ensure a continuous, efficient, and reliable water supply throughout the facility while optimizing energy consumption.

The situation

Through our partner Proyectos Fares, Grundfos was selected to supply pumping solutions at the stadium. The initial specification considered another brand, but it was replaced by Grundfos due to its high performance, reliability, and advanced technology for high-demand applications.

One of the key needs of the stadium was to have intelligent pumping systems that ensured operational stability, energy efficiency, and a reliable water supply in every area of the complex, without requiring constant supervision.

The solution: efficiency and total control in hydrosanitary systems

To meet the water and sanitation needs of the stadium, a comprehensive solution was implemented that includes:

  • 15 lift stations equipped with submersible pumps in duplex, triplex, and quadruplex configurations, with backup pumps for ensure continuous operation.
  • 3 Grundfos Hydro MPC boosting systems, one intended for drinking water, another for treated water, and the third for irrigation, mounted on a skid with an integrated panel, pumps, and expansion tank. This compact design facilitated installation and reduced costs.

The core of the solution is the intelligent controller CU 352, which allows real-time monitoring of pressure, flow, the status of each pump, and maintenance requirements. Thanks to its control algorithms, which manage the operation of the pumps according to the demand and efficiency of the system, an energy consumption reduction of up to 20% is achieved. This intelligent technology reduces the operational burden on the maintenance team and optimizes system performance.

The ease of installation and intelligent controls have been key to the success of the project. Grundfos helped us meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency in a world-class project.

The result: sustainability and uninterrupted operation

Grundfos systems have proven to be a robust, efficient, and sustainable solution, offering key benefits for the stadium:

  • Reduction of energy consumption, thanks to control with variable speed drives that optimize the operation of the pumps.
  • Smaller carbon footprint by significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.
  • Minimal maintenance, with intelligent alerts for the timely replacement of components to avoid interruptions.
  • Quick and easy installation, thanks to the integrated design of the equipment that facilitates assembly and reduces commissioning times.
  • Continuous operation, even in the event of failures, thanks to the backup pumps.

Furthermore, Grundfos equipment contributes to obtaining points for LEED certifications, aligning with the stadium's sustainability goals and reinforcing its commitment to energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
