BOONS Food and Industrial Supplies (BOONS FIS), a specialist in industrial cleaning and hygiene equipment, has been exclusively collaborating with Grundfos for the past three years. This partnership emerged from a shared vision of quality, efficiency, and customisation.
Established partnership with Grundfos
BOONS FIS, with branches in Nazareth, Belgium and Tiel, Netherlands, is an OEM/system builder focusing on open plant cleaning (OPC) in the food industry.
With help from Grundfos, BOONS FIS has developed high-quality cleaning skids that operate at pressure levels of both 20 and 40 bar, suitable for cold and hot water applications. The choice of two pressure options provides flexibility in the cleaning process: lighter tasks can be efficiently performed at 20 bar, while heavier jobs sometimes require 40 bar.
Additionally, BOONS FIS offers mobile solutions and has a demo room where customers can test the equipment, allowing them to experience the performance of Grundfos pumps and the innovative solutions from BOONS FIS firsthand.
The Grundfos pumps are energy-efficient, consume little water, and can be customised for our specific applications.
BOONS FIS has been working with Grundfos for ten years for the supply of 20 and 40 bar pumps, both for the standard range and special custom build projects. For the past three years, this has been exclusively with Grundfos. Previously, two pump manufacturers were used, but now only Grundfos is chosen for the supply of, among other things, frequency-controlled energy-efficient centrifugal pumps. They aim to achieve their international ambitions with this.
“Regarding the 20-40 bar units, we hope to break through worldwide with help from Grundfos,” says Liesbeth. “Therefore, we strive for an intensive and close collaboration with Grundfos, which has been successful so far.”
In the demo room of BOONS FIS, the various cleaning possibilities can be tested.

Many possibilities from reliable and customised solutions
BOONS FIS is very satisfied with the collaboration with the pump manufacturer. “They are a trusted partner who pursues quality and provides service that meets our requirements,” says Liesbeth.
“Their pumps are reliable and keep running. Thanks to our good collaboration, we can together achieve the sustainability goals required of our end users. We think of savings in terms of energy and water use, and it’s all about sustainability. The pumps are also very low maintenance. After intensive use, it is sufficient in 90% of cases to only replace the seals, if anything needs to be replaced at all.”
BOONS FIS also appreciates the Grundfos approach to customisation and the innovative character at Grundfos: the pumps are developed made-to-measure.
“That is really their strength,” says Liesbeth. “This allows us to deliver customisation to our end-user customers. Grundfos is a name known worldwide, but they do not rest on their laurels. They are working every day to further develop and find new solutions. We cannot work with partners that do not innovate and seek to improve.”

Many possibilities from reliable and customised solutions
A major advantage is that Grundfos pumps operate energy-efficiently. “Quite a bit of water, chemicals and energy are used in our installations,” says Liesbeth.
“An example is a recent installation we delivered at the production site of Lamb-Weston Meijer (LWM) in Kruiningen, Netherlands on the new site for the new production line Kruiningen 2. This production line is intended for the production of fries as the end product. This cleaning installation has 70 take-off points of no less than 25 l/m per take-off point. The more sustainable we can make it, the better. The cleaning aspect is a significant cost factor for a company, so we must handle it as sustainably as possible. Grundfos helps us pursue that goal.”

According to Grundfos, the possibilities for customised pumps are endless, and they place emphasis on always listening to their customers.
“With over a million different executions from our CR pumps, we can offer a solution for almost every application,” says Marco Gregory, Sales Engineer Industry at Grundfos. “Together with our customers, we seek the best available technology and provide the best solution.”
“An example of one of the most energy-efficient pumps from Grundfos is the custom-made and compact CRNE pumps,” explains Marco. “They are widely used at BOONS FIS. The control of the pumps is partly integrated into the pump itself. The pump is compact but delivers a constant pressure with a higher variable speed. The pressure build-up is more even, which is safer, and the constant pressure ensures a uniform foam pattern."
“These pumps achieve great energy efficiency. All motors are IE5-rated permanent magnet motors. For us, this is important because we focus on sustaina- bility and reducing the carbon footprint. We want to convince our customers of the importance of this. Legislation will become stricter, and you will have to work with the best energy standard. If you do not keep up with this, you are using outdated technology.”
Flexibility and power in cleaning with BOONS FIS pressure boosting units
BOONS FIS offers a versatile range of pressure boosting units tailored to the specific needs of industrial cleaning. The 20-bar units, equipped with durable stainless steel Grundfos pumps, are ideal for light to medium cleaning tasks. For heavier applications, the 40-bar range provides extra power and pressure, perfect for intensive cleaning.
Thanks to the intelligent start-stop system, both types save energy and water and can be expanded with various optional accessories, such as water tanks and temperature protection, for optimal performance in any situation.
