America’s fastest installers compete for glory

Glitzy Las Vegas provided the backdrop as some of our best US dealers battled it out in the Grundfos Guts & Glory Water Pro Championship earlier this month.

Pump installers Levi Lockhart, Brian Butcher and Jason Johnson made it to the final, where they were tasked with connecting an SQE submersible pump to a CU301 controller.

Johnson made it out on top with a time of 2:37, winning the trophy and $10,000. En route to the final, he had excelled at connecting a Grundfos MQ pump with a SCALA2 booster and filling a water basin in just over four minutes.

“I watched just about 800 YouTube videos of just about every Grundfos product I could think of. Thinking if this is it, how can I go faster,” said Jason Johnson, A1 Water Well Service, Kansas.

The finals of the championship, arranged to celebrate the skills of installers across the US, took place at the NGWA tradeshow and featured the top 12 participants from qualifying events across the country plus two walk-on spots. It was the pinnacle of a total of 75 regional qualifying events involving more than 1000 competitors – all competing for the fastest pump assembly times.

“We wanted to reward our Water Pro dealers for their dedication and commitment while giving them a chance to show off their skills,” said Dan Story, Vice President of Groundwater Sales, Grundfos Americas.

Qualifiers for next year’s spectacle are just around the corner, kicking off in Aruba in January.
