First move into Indian mining industry

The 112-year-old coal mine company, located approximately 300 kilometres from the southern Indian town of Hydereabad, has installed two 55 kW SP submersible pumps with CU3 control unit and R100 remote control plus a printer unit, as part of an energy-saving campaign. The new pumps, which are used for distribution of water in the mining company ’s housing facilities, replace the 93 kW multistage pumps formerly used for this purpose.

The energy savings are not the only benefit for the mining company: the new equipment makes it possible to monitor all parameters of significancein terms of protection of the pump motor. This is something that the mining company ’s acting MD Venkateswar Reddy is enthusiastic about:

“In short,we can see how the new technology can be used in practice. That is normally something we can only read about in the papers,” he says.

Grundfos has carried out practical training of the company ’s maintenance personnel at Singareni, and this has further enhanced confidence in Grundfos ’leading technological products. And, on the basis of this initial success, the mining company has plans to replace more pumps with SP submersible pumps with control units in the coming months.
