Grundfos wins The Danish Design Award with new wastewater pump

In the jury’s reasoning, Grundfos is praised for having designed a pump which takes account for the environmental problems associated with the handling of wastewater pumps.

In the reasoning, the pump series, which among other things is used in municipal wastewater treatment plants and industrial processing plants, is described as ‘a really good and well-thought-out construction, which demonstrates a high level of user involvement’. According to the jury, the pump has a ‘convincing product identity and at the same time an appealingly safe and elegant appearance. The product proves that Grundfos is uncompromising and shows its surroundings what consistent use of industrial design can add to products’.

Wastewater pumps are used in conditions which make it particularly important that they can function efficiently for a long time without being serviced. And when the pump eventually needs maintenance or repair, it must be fast and simple. Grundfos has taken account of these circumstances in the design of its technologically advanced pump series.

The jury emphasises that the pump has a smooth and dirt-repelling exterior and is easy to clean both internally and externally. That the safety and sealing units give the pump high stability and a long life. That the modular design makes the pump easy to handle, if it is for instance blocked by foreign matters. And that the cooling function of the pump gives maximum flexibility, so that it can be used both under and above water.

HRH Crown Prince Frederik presented the award to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Niels Due Jensen, at the Danish Design Centre in Copenhagen.
