New agreement in Singapore opens doors for sustainable future

Today, as Grundfos and PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency signed a cooperation agreement in connection with Singapore International Water Week, the two companies took a significant step in the endeavour of continuously being able to deliver the best products and the best service for all their customers. The two important players in the water industry shook hands, promising each other to share their expertise and jointly develop new, sustainable waste water solutions – plus refining those already in play.

“The research collaboration with Grundfos will allow us to tap on Grundfos’ strength in the development of pump solutions for water treatment, and at the same time explore collaborations in new areas where Grundfos is venturing to, such as used water treatment,” said Mr. Harry Seah, PUB’s Chief Technology Officer.

The agreement between PUB and Grundfos aims among other things at researching – and developing – sustainable solutions for water treatment. For example by sophisticating disinfection technologies for waste water treatment. The two companies have also agreed to work out new ways of integrating for instance pumps in water treatment and developing new, energy efficient solutions for the water companies’ distribution networks.

“With the agreement with PUB we get the opportunity to cooperate with a major, public company on solving some of the water challenges we face. A successful collaboration between the private and the public sector gives us an excellent platform for further work. Together, we can create advanced solutions which ensures growth and takes the planet into account as well”, says Poul Due Jensen, Regional Managing Director for the Asia-Pacific region in Grundfos.

The partnership between Grundfos and PUB was not the only agreement signed today. The Danish Minister for the Environment, Kirsten Brosbøl, and her colleague in the Singaporean ministry signed a similar declaration regarding collaboration between the two nations’ water sectors. In relation to this, the Danish minister said:

“Denmark and Singapore are both in the top league regarding modern environmental engineering. I’m very satisfied that we are able to make an agreement for the benefit of the environment and for the development within the environmental field in both countries. I’m sure that we can learn something from Singapore and vice versa, and that the agreement will benefit the environment and Danish companies’ chances of penetrating the South East Asian market with solutions within water, air and waste.”

Signing the MOU on behalf of the two organisations were Mr Tan Yok Gin, Deputy Chief Executive (Operations) of PUB, and Mr Poul Due Jensen. Singapore’s Environment and Water Resources Minister, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, and the Danish Environment Minister, Mrs Kirsten Brosbøl, were present at the signing ceremony.
