We put focus on water at the UN

Some of the world’s most important leaders, including several heads of states, presidents of international organizations, and CEOs from international companies have gathered at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) held in New York.

One of the main themes of the event is ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’, which was also a key topic at the opening debate.

Grundfos is part of the program, and during UNGA, we are putting focus on some of the world’s water issues at several events and bilateral meetings, including a special event with focus on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6, clean water and sanitation. Among other things, a key target here is to secure access to water for all by 2030.

“We know investments in water infrastructure need to triple to reach the universal goals by 2030. We also know that it is not very likely to happen, so we need to think differently. We must find new, sustainable business models to close the investment gap between investors on one side and water utilities in water stressed, developing countries on the other,” says Mads Nipper, Group President.

Finding solutions will be a huge part of our agenda in New York, when we host events, participate in debates and meet with heads of states and CEOs.

“We are looking forward to taking part in these very important discussions and will work ambitiously towards introducing new business models to do our part to bridge the investment gap,” explains Mads Nipper.
