FAQ

Question: What is the inlet pressure range for SCALA pumps?

Answer:

The Grundfos SCALA1 pump can operate with an inlet pressure range from 0 to 6 bar (0 to 87 psi). This wide range allows the pump to function effectively in many different situations, from boosting pressure from a municipal water supply to increasing pressure from a water storage tank.

Please note that if you're using a private well or a storage tank as your water source, it's essential to select a product that can warn you in case of “dry-run” to ensure that the pump isn't operating when there is no water, as this could potentially damage the pump. Both SCALA1 and SCALA2 features dry-run protection a built-in protection feature, that deactivates the pump and alerts the user to the lack of water in the installation to prevent damage of the pump.

The Grundfos SCALA2 pump can handle an inlet pressure range of 0 to 6 bar (0 to 87 psi), same the SCALA1 model.

The SCALA2 is designed to either increase water pressure from an already pressurized system (like a municipal water supply) or to pump water from a storage tank or well with low or zero pressure.

Keep in mind, regardless of the inlet pressure, SCALA2's intelligent pump control adjusts performance to maintain constant water pressure at the outlets according to demand.
