The International Water Association (IWA) and Grundfos are pleased to launch the 2027-2028 IWA & Grundfos Youth Action for SDG 6 Fellowship.

Building on the experience of the two previous cohorts, this third cohort will place a stronger focus on innovation and increasing the uptake of technology and innovative solutions in the water sector.

For the fellowship cohort, IWA and Grundfos are looking for young water professionals who are already exploring or developing an idea, solution or innovative approach to a clearly identified water challenge and who are ready to take the next steps in its development.

Over approximately two years, the fellows will participate in a structured programme combining capacity development, peer learning, engagement with IWA and Grundfos experts and networks, international exposure, and opportunities to refine, strengthen and increase the visibility of their work.

Applications are welcomed from IWA Young Water Professional members and eligible young water professionals employed by Grundfos, aged 18-35. Grundfos applicants do not need to be IWA members to apply.

Proposed innovations may relate to areas including:

• Applied research and product/solution innovation
• Innovative financial mechanisms and business models
• Capacity building and enabling approaches

Applicants should already have taken tangible steps towards developing or validating their proposed innovation. The fellowship is particularly suited to emerging solutions at the concept, prototype, testing/validation or early-pilot stage.

The fellowship supports participation, professional development and capacity building. It does not provide direct funding, investment or grants for the implementation of fellows' innovations or projects. Instead, it aims to equip fellows with the knowledge, skills, networks and exposure needed to strengthen their solutions and pursue future implementation opportunities, partnerships, accelerator programmes or external financing.
